Interview Preparation Tips
- Dress in business attire, whether you’re meeting the recruiter in person or via video.
- Practice responses to typical job interview questions that most employers ask – describe your strengths and weaknesses, why did you leave your last position, tell me about your ideal role, etc.
- Think of real-world examples you can use to describe your skills and experience.
- Be on time. If you’re meeting in person, on time means five to ten minutes early.
- During the interview, try to relax and stay calm.
- Maintain eye contact with the recruiter and/or interviewer.
- Listen to the entire question before answering.
Video Interview Tips
- Keep your answers brief – 30 seconds or less is recommended.
- Interview from a quiet room with no distractions.
- Keep your background clear and uncluttered.
- If you’re using a smartphone, take the video horizontally (sideways).
- Try not to move around too much when filming.
- If asked to discuss technical strengths, focus on your professional skills rather than personal attributes.
- You may retake your answers as many times as you like.
- If you have questions, please ask!
