Before your interview, do your homework. This means checking out information about the company on their website and LinkedIn. You should also review your resume and the job description to make critical comparisons when talking about your experience and how it would fit in with the company and job
Show Your Passion
You may be tempted to curb your enthusiasm so you don’t come off as too overly excited, but that isn’t always a great strategy. It’s okay to show your passion for the work you do, the type of industry you’re in, or even the company’s mission for which you’re applying. Hiring managers want to see people engaged with their work.
Human communication is storytelling. Don’t get too caught up in boring facts when you’re interviewing. It’s encouraged to tell stories to communicate your experience with your interviewer. For example, they may ask behavioral questions like, “tell me about a time when.” Use this as an opportunity to share a story about your background that is relevant to the subject.
Always make sure you ask questions of your own. Avoid questions that your homework should answer for you, such as “What does your company do?” There may be some questions that come up naturally in the discussion. If you can’t think of any questions, you can always ask, “What do you like most about working here?” Always ask a question about when they expect to make a decision and how you should follow up.
